Connect Your TMS to FreightLink

An approved TMS partner can push its broker customers' freight directly into FreightLink — without requiring every broker to create a FreightLink account. The broker stays inside the TMS workflow they already use.

How a TMS connection works

A broker does not need a FreightLink account just for an approved TMS to push their loads into FreightLink.

The TMS authenticates

Your platform authenticates with its own approved FreightLink integration credentials. Those credentials are the posting authority for every load you submit.

The TMS supplies broker identity

Each load carries the broker's company, contact, phone, MC number, and a stable broker identifier from your system. FreightLink stores that as provenance — no FreightLink account is created for the broker.

The broker stays in your workflow

Brokers who additionally want to log into FreightLink, post freight manually, manage teams, or use FreightLink broker-account features still follow the normal FreightLink registration and approval process.

One TMS connection — multiple broker customers

You connect to FreightLink once. That single approved partner connection carries the freight of every participating broker customer on your platform — no separate endpoint, key, or registration per brokerage.

The payload distinguishes the brokerage

  • external_broker_id — your stable ID for that brokerage
  • external_load_id — your stable ID for that load

Your credentials plus those two values tell FreightLink which partner, broker, and load the request belongs to.

Broker contact, your way

Send the broker's email and phone whenever you have them, then set preferred_contact_method to say what carriers should be pointed to:

  • "email" — email inquiries only
  • "phone" — calls only
  • "both" — the default

Always include broker_mc_number as well — FreightLink uses the brokerage MC for the factorability and credit indicators carriers look for.

What your TMS sends

Required broker data

For a broker who is not a FreightLink member, submitted under your approved partner credentials.

  • external_broker_idYour stable identifier for that brokerage — the same value every time
  • broker_companyBrokerage legal or operating company name
  • broker_contact_namePerson carriers should reach
  • broker_emailContact email shown on the load
  • broker_phoneContact phone shown on the load
  • broker_mc_numberBrokerage MC number

Required load data

Minimum fields to create a load. Rate, weight, dimensions, notes and more are optional.

  • external_load_idYour stable identifier for the load
  • pickup_locationCity, ST or full address
  • pickup_dateYYYY-MM-DD
  • delivery_locationCity, ST or full address
  • delivery_dateYYYY-MM-DD
  • equipmentEquipment code, or an array of codes

Keep external_broker_id and external_load_id stable — never generate a new value per request. The full field reference lives in the API documentation.
